To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the compensation awarded annually by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board to victims of injuries caused by bar glasses. [38323]

Mr. Maclean

The board comments that a significant number of injuries are known to arise from incidents in public houses and similar places, but no estimate is available of the amounts paid to victims of bar glass injuries.
