To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many self-inflicted deaths have occurred in each year since 1992(a) in each prison and (b) by security category in each prison. [37978]

Letter from A. J. Pearson to Mr. George Howarth, Dated 22 July 1996: The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question about self-inflicted deaths in prison.
