§ Mr. ChisholmTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list for each health board in Scotland the number of acute beds for each of the last five years and the projected number for 2000. [38398]
§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 19 July 1996]: The total number of average available staffed acute beds for each health board for each of the last five years is given in the table. There is no central projection for the number of acute beds in the year 2000. It is for health boards and NHS trusts to determine the number of beds required to deliver services taking into account their own local circumstances.
