[holding answer 18 July 1996]: The Government do not hold any information on the use, either in the past or at present, of veterinary medicines in other countries. This is a matter for the appropriate regulatory authority in any particular country. However, we understand from the industry body, the National Office of Animal Health Ltd., that phosmet is currently authorised for use as a veterinary medicine in several countries including France and the Republic of Ireland,

1. Treatment of warble fly infestation or mange— 10ml/100kg bodyweight up to 350kg; over 350kg bodyweight—40ml. To be given as single dose.
2. Treatment of lice infestation only—5ml/100kg bodyweight up to 350kg; over 350kg bodyweight—20ml. To be repeated after 10 to 14 days.
3. Treatment of warble fly, lice and mange infestation— treat first at the warble/mange dose followed 10 to 14 days later by the louse dose.
Porect Pfizer Ltd. PL 11061/4001 For use in pigs to treat and control mange and louse infestation.
This product is in a ready to use form and should be applied at a dosage rate of 1ml/10kg bodyweight.
Vet-Kem Sponge—On For Dogs Sanofi Animal Health Ltd. PL 12501/4003 To be used as a solution containing 30mls of sponge-on with 3.8 litres of water. Repeat treatment may be necessary after 14 days if treating for sarcoptic mange, or 16 days for the control of flea infestations.
