To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what additional resources he plans to make available to county social service departments in Wales, following recent court cases, to ensure that they can respond adequately to the establishment needs of disabled and elderly people who require additional services to enable them to live in the community; and if he will make a statement. The Government are considering the implications of the recent judgment by the Court of Appeal in Rv. Gloucestershire County Council ex parte Michael Barry and R v. Lancashire County Council ex parte (1) Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation and (2) Beryl Gilpin.
