The President of the Board of trade has asked me to reply to your request for details of my Agency's cost for printing (a) all publications and (b) the Annual Report in the last available year.
- (a) The cost of printing all publications in the financial year 1995–96 was £402,959.26
- (b) The cost of printing the Agency's Annual Report for 1994/95 was £9,218 (in addition the Agency produced a Business Review for 1994/95, the cost of which was £10,735).

You recently asked the President of the Board of Trade for information about printing costs. I am replying in respect of Companies House.The figures for the financial year 1995/96 are as follows:
- Overall printing cost for publications: £257,000
- Cost of printing 1994/95 annual report and accounts: £14,300
I should explain that the annual report figure is included in the overall print figure. It may also help if I explain that over three-quarters of the remaining printing cost are accounted for by notes for guidance that Companies House issues free of charge to help people understand their obligations under the Companies Act, and various aspects of our procedure.
