§ Mr. Robin SquireThe Government have accepted all the recommendations of the working group on school security, including the need for additional funding. This will be made available through the GEST programme from 1997–98 as indicated in the Department for Education and Employment circular 13/96 issued to LEAs on 12 July. Funding levels within the 1997–98 GEST programme will be determined as part of the public expenditure survey and announced after the Budget. A copy of the circular 13/96 has been placed in the Library.
