§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe route for the new motorway will be selected on the grounds of economic performance, engineering feasibility, cost and environmental impact and will reflect the wide-ranging views emerging from the current consultation process.
Statutory procedures will be published after a choice of preferred line has been made. The need for a public local inquiry will depend on the reaction to the publication of draft procedures.
