To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimated cost of reviewing the locking schedules in prisons in England and Wales. [35866]

Letter from Richard Tilt to Mr. George Howarth, dated 9 July 1996: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the estimated cost of reviewing the locking schedules in prisons in England and Wales. A review of a typical prison including checking on site and subsequent inputting of data might take up to two weeks at a total estimated cost of £1,200.
