To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the average time taken to re-let council homes in each of the metropolitan councils; and if he will make a statement. [35859]

Local authorities in England are requested to provide information on the average time they take to re-let council dwellings, excluding those let after major repair work in their annual housing investment programme—HIP1—returns.

The latest available figures, which relate to dwellings let during the financial year 1994–95, are given in the 1995 "HIP1 All Items Print", a copy of which is in the Library.
