§ Mr. NorrisThe United Kingdom put forward, for funding under the Trans-European networks financing regulation EC 2236/95, 16 projects in 1995 and 18 projects in 1996, including the Great Western line development study, which covers the Bristol-Penzance line. These are listed in the table. The allocation of funds to individual projects is determined by a committee of member states' representatives on the basis of a set of Commission proposals, themselves based on member states' bids. Officials maintain regular contact with the Commission to ensure that the proposed allocation is based on a thorough and accurate knowledge of the projects concerned.
