§ Mr. StreeterFor proceedings in the magistrates courts it is possible to give only the average number of whole weeks spent in custody between first listing and completion of the case, which in 1995 was seven weeks. That figure includes those cases which were subsequently committed to the Crown court, where the average waiting time between committal and start of trial in 1995–96 was 11.4 weeks.
