§ Mr. Sproat[holding answer 1 July 1996]: In the sports policy paper "Sport: Raising the Game", we announced our intention to establish a British academy of sport, to provide a coherent and unified programme to allow those with the greatest talent to use that talent to best effect. In addition, on 1 April, the Secretary of State issued new policy directions to allow national lottery money to provide revenue support to develop sporting talents and skills, particularly of young people.
