The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question asking how many people were detained in Doncaster prison, under Immigration Acts powers in each month since January 1996; what were their nationalities; how many people were deported in each month; and to what countries.Information on the number of persons detained in HMP Doncaster under Immigration Act powers is shown in the attached table for the last day of each month for the period January to May 1996. Two people were deported after discharge from HMP Doncaster between January and May; one in January and the other in May. Information is not available on the countries to which these persons were deported. Nationality information cannot be given as it would identify individuals.
