The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question asking what was the cost to public funds of the Review of Comparative Costs and Performance of Privately and Publicly Operated Prisons produced by Coopers and Lybrand: and from which budget these costs were met.The cost was £50,048 including VAT, which was met from the budget of the Director of Finance, which includes provision for research and consultancy.
