§ Mr. MacleanUnder section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 which repealed section 1(3) of the Litter Act 1983 there were in 1994—latest available figures—1,164 prosecutions in England and Wales for the offence of depositing litter. Of these, 82 per cent.—952—were found guilty. The average fine for the offence was £90.
