§ Mr. ClappisonLast year—1995–96–87 per cent. of the income from water abstraction licensing and charges came from the water undertakers. Industrial concerns and private individuals accounted for the remaining 13 per cent. The Environment Agency does not keep central records enabling it to distinguish between the last two categories.
§ Mrs. JacksonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many new licences for water abstraction have been granted in each year since 1989 and in 1996 to date. [34847]
§ Mr. ClappisonThe total number of new licence applications determined each year in England and Wales since March 1989 are as follows:
