To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authority houses have been sold under the right-to-buy scheme in rural Scotland; what is the remaining stock of(a) land authority and (b) housing association rented housing in rural Scotland; and what is the level of homelessness in rural Scotland. Information on the sales and remaining stock of local authority dwellings in each district and islands area will be published in the Scottish Office statistical bulletin HSG/1996/1 "Housing Trends in Scotland: Quarter ended 30 June 1995" on 31 January. A copy will be placed in the Library. Information on homelessness applications was published in the Scottish Office statistical bulletin HSG/1995/7 "Operation of the Homeless Persons Legislation in Scotland 1983–84 to 1993–94: District Analyses". A copy is available in the Library. Information on housing association dwellings available for letting in rural local authorities is set out in the table.
