§ Mr. NorrisIn their response to the Transport Committee's report on taxis and private hire vehicles (CM 2715) the Government agreed with the Committee's recommendation that applicants for taxi and private hire vehicle driver licences should pass a medical similar to that required for bus and coach drivers. This will require primary legislation, and will thus depend upon a suitable legislative opportunity becoming available.
