HC Deb 24 January 1996 vol 270 c287W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what proportion of those aged 18 to 21 years have achieved NVQ level 2 or its equivalent; and what are the equivalent figures for(a) Germany and (b) Japan. [10165]

Mr. Paice

The latest estimate for the proportion of 18 to 21-year-olds in the United Kingdom who have achieved at least national vocational qualification level 2 or equivalent is 63 per cent. This figure is taken from the summer 1995 labour force survey.

Comparable information for Germany and Japan is not available.
