§ Mr. Sproat[holding answer 23 January 1996]My right hon. Friend has considered the guidance contained in "Policy Appraisal and the Environment" and is satisfied that an appraisal of the environmental effects in relation to the proposed heritage Green Paper is not appropriate at this time. The main purpose of the Green Paper will be to consult on a range of proposals for improving the statutory protection of the built heritage. We will keep this decision under review as appropriate.
