To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will make a statement about his Department's plans to demolish Turnstile house, London; and when this proposal was agreed; [9007]

(2) how much was spent by his Department on the refurbishment of Turnstile house, London; and when this refurbishment was conducted. [9008]

My Department has no plans to demolish Turnstile house. The building was vacated in September 1994 and shortly afterwards it was returned to the commercial landlord.

No money was spent by my Department on Turnstile house beyond that for routine maintenance and decoration. In the more recent years before the building was vacated, my Department paid the following amounts under the terms of its occupancy agreement.
