To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what matters are routinely addressed in the course of considering applications for defence export licences. [9272]

In assessing export licence applications, consideration is given to our national security, our policy towards the recipient country and our international obligations including the established criteria and guidelines agreed by the permanent five members of the UN Security Council; with the European Union member states and in the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe.
