HC Deb 15 January 1996 vol 269 c408W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultation he or other Ministers of his Department have had with the Secretary of State for the Home Department and the President of the Board of Trade concerning the case of the Saudi Arabian Citizen, Mohammed al-Masari. [8699]

Mr. Hanley

Ministers have consulted on the case of Dr. al-Masari, as is normal for issues of mutual concern.

Mr. Winnick

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on how many occasions and on what dates he was asked directly or indirectly, formally or otherwise, by the Saudi authorities about the presence in the United Kingdom of Dr. al-Masari; and what response he gave on each occasion. [9172]

Mr. Hanley

The presence and activities of Dr. al-Masari in the UK have been raised by the Saudi authorities on a number of occasions. The Saudis have been told that Her Majesty's Government disapprove of Dr. al-Masari's activities, but that he would be treated strictly in accordance with UK and international law.
