The social fund cold weather payment scheme triggered 13 times at five weather stations between January and March 1995. Approximately 11,000 payments worth £77,000 were made. So far this winter, the scheme has triggered 76 times at 47 stations throughout the country. As a result, nearly 3.8 million payments totalling almost £32 million have been made.
