To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) on how many occasions fire engines and other rescue vehicles were placed on alert in 1994 for(a) Heathrow, (b) Gatwick, (c) Manchester, and (d) Stansted airports; and if he will make a statement; [7587]

(2) which criteria led to emergency fire engines and rescue vehicles being put on alert at United Kingdom airports; and if he will make a statement. [7586]
