§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 13 December 1995]: The number of press and public relations officers employed in the Scottish Office information directorate at 1 April in the years 1978, 1992 and 1995 were 23, 27, and 27 respectively.
The total annual salary bill for all staff in the information directorate, including administrative support grades, was £965,361 in 1991–92 and £1,031,836 in 1994–95. The figure for 1977–78 is not available.
