To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many mobile telephones have been supplied to his Department in each of the last eight years; and in each of those years how many different suppliers were involved. [8031]

The total number of mobile telephones purchased by HM Treasury during the last five financial years is as follows:

  • 1991–92: 08
  • 1992–93: 10
  • 1993–94: 09
  • 1994–95: 13
  • 1995–96: 09 (to date).

Each mobile telephone was provided by the same supplier. Information concerning the preceding three years is unavailable.
