HC Deb 29 February 1996 vol 272 c632W
Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the cost of the police operation for the Euro '96 championships; and how many officers will be involved. [17848]

Mr. Maclean

The Association of Chief Police Officers has estimated that the cost of policing for the European football championships 1996 could be around £5.5 million. Decisions about the number of officers involved, and their deployment, are for chief officers of the forces concerned.
