To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what was the total number of trials in the district courts during 1995; [16734]

(2) what was the total number of adjournments of trials in the district courts and the reason for these adjournments during 1995; and whether they were at the instance of the prosecution or the defence. [16735]
