Mr. Touhig

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many responses his Department has received on(a) the Public Interest Disclosure Bill and (b) the Whistleblower Protection Bill; in each case how many (i) were in support of each Bill and (ii) indicated that each Bill would pose an undue burden on business; and if he will list those organisations which did not respond in confidence. Up to 26 February, my Department has received 34 letters, all supporting the Public Interest Disclosure Bill. Of these, 29 were from individuals, two from general secretaries of trade unions and three from national organisations. No letters were received by my Department about the Whistleblower Protection Bill.
