Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will list for each of the education authority areas participating in her voucher scheme for early years education(a) the number qualified nursery school teachers in post, (b) the number of qualified nursery school assistants or nurses in post and (c) the number of persons holding qualifications of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will list(a) the estimated number of five-year-olds eligible, (b) the number of places already available through existing providers, by category, (c) the additional number of places expected from existing or new providers by category and (d) the deficit or surplus of places at the latest convenient date, for each of the local education authority areas participating in phase I of the early age voucher scheme. Children aged five will hold nursery education vouchers only where they become five in the term before compulsory school age. Data on these children are not held separately.
