Mr. Jon Owen Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his oral answer on 19 February,Official Report, column 4, when he expects to assess the particular interests of Wales in respect of the introduction of a single European currency. [16968]

The United Kingdom will agree to take part in a single currency only if it is in our interest to do so, given the circumstances at the time. A full assessment of the benefits and disadvantages will be carried out nearer the time, before the decision is made.
