To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many(a) confirmed and (b) unconfirmed cases of BSE there were in each week in October, November and December 1995. [16791]

[holding answer 26 February 1996]: The number of suspected BSE cases placed under restriction and subsequently confirmed or not confirmed as having BSE in the last 13 weeks of 1995 are as follows:

  3. (iii) which have been slaughtered but for which the results of histopathological examination to confirm BSE are still pending.
