HC Deb 27 February 1996 vol 272 c448W
Mr. Loyden

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what are his Department's guidelines for the admission of gynaecology and psychiatric patients through casualty units in hospitals where there is no registrar appointed for either of these specialities; and what recommendations are made by his Department for proper differential diagnosis to be made in such cases for admission or discharge of patients; [17404]

(2) what guidelines exist for admitting patients where there is one registrar to deal with that patient's problems; and if he will place a copy in the Library. [17405]

Mr. Horam

There is no central guidance. Procedures for admitting patients to hospital are determined in accordance with local arrangements.
