HC Deb 22 February 1996 vol 272 c266W
Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many High Court prosecutions have been conducted by the Lord Advocate and the Solicitor-General for Scotland in each of the last five years. [15721]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

There is no central of record of the number of occasions on which Lords the Advocate or Solicitors General for Scotland have represented the Crown in criminal proceedings. However, both the present office holders and their predecessors have appeared for the Crown in High Court trials and criminal appeal hearings. They have done so on numerous occasions, when their parliamentary and other duties have permitted.
