§ Ms EagleTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what guidance is given to boards of trustees about the declaration of interest when fulfilling their duties of distributing national lottery funds. [15098]
§ Mr. SproatThe second financial direction issued to all lottery distributors under section 26 (3) and (4) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 states that each distributor shall devise and abide by a procedure for handling potential conflicts of interest which may arise in the evaluation of applications by the body or individual members of that body. This should be provided to the Secretary of State before the distribution of any funds under section 25 of the Act, and thereafter at the beginning of each financial year.
It is the responsibility of the individual body concerned to ensure that trustees are aware of the respective requirements and comply with them.
