To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many pupils(a) are currently and (b) have been in each of the last three years educated in controlled secondary and grammar schools. [12552]

The information requested is as follows:

  1. (a) 54,785 pupils are currently educated in controlled secondary and grammar schools (1994–95).
  2. (b) The numbers of pupils educated in controlled secondary and grammar schools for the last three years are as follows:
    • 1991–92: 53,859
    • 1992–93: 53,976
    • 1993–94: 54,697
