§ Mr. Robin SquireThe information is not collected by the Department. However the Office for Standards in Education paper "Class Size and the Quality of Education" published in November 1995, a copy of which is in the Library, contains relevant information derived from the large sample of schools whose inspection data were available at that date. The report indicated that some 62 per cent. of secondary school classes were formed on the basis of ability—sets or streams. Further details are given in table 12 of the report.
