HC Deb 02 February 1996 vol 270 cc973-4W
Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will discuss with the Post Office authorities the returning to sender of food and medicines parcels posted to Iraq which have been clearly marked in accordance with his Department's instructions. [13284]

Mr. Hanley

UN sanctions prohibit the export to Iraq of goods other than food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies. These require an export licence obtained from the Department of Trade and Industry. The Post Office will not accept any items for Iraq that do not have the appropriate licence.
