To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what was the total amount of aid to South Africa in each of the years 1991 to 1995 from(a) the European Community and (b) the United Kingdom, bilaterally. [9323]

¹ The UK figures for 1991 and 1992 are those for the nearest corresponding financial year. EC aid to South Africa did not commence until 1993. Before the 1994 elections, all aid was channelled through non-governmental organisations, community groups or other institutions.
