The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about Category A women in Holloway and Belmarsh prisons.On 12 December 1996 there were three Category A women in Holloway prison and none in Belmarsh prison. Of those in Holloway prison two were convicted and one unconvicted. The unconvicted prisoner is known to be pregnant.
