Whether, as reported, the Government of Turkey is seeking to secure a veto over the possible military actions that WEU or other groups of NATO countries might wish to engage in without the participation of the United States and, if so, what is their reaction to this proposal.
§ Baroness Chalker of WallaseyThe North Atlantic Council at Berlin on 3rd June agreed arrangements under which WEU might, in certain circumstances, use NATO headquarters and equipment for operations in which not all NATO members would take part. In each case the agreement of all NATO members, including Turkey, would be needed.
