Responsibility for the subject of this question has been delegated to the Royal Parks Agency under its Chief Executive, Mr. David Welch. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter to Lord Hylton from the Chief Executive of the Royal Parks Agency, Mr. David Welch, dated 11th December 1996.

I have been asked by Lord Inglewood to reply to your Parliamentary Question about the temporary closure of Horse Guards Road.

The road is closed to through traffic while essential major maintenance works are being carried out on Horse Guards Parade and Horse Guards Road. Closure of the road is necessary throughout the project so that the contractor can carry out the works safely and securely. The road will be reopened in mid-February 1997 on completion of the works.
