To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the initiatives he is taking to reduce city centre crime. [6163]

Our strategy for tackling crime is a four-pronged approach:

  1. (1) ensuring that everything possible is done to prevent crime;
  2. (2) that the police have the powers and resources they need to catch criminals;
  3. (3) that the innocent are acquitted and the guilty convicted; and
  4. (4) that criminals are properly punished.
