To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will indicate for the former regional and island council areas in Scotland for(a) 1992–92, (b) 1993–94 and (c) 1995–96 the total number of (i) primary and (ii) secondary schools, indicating how many have school boards. [6486]

It is taken from statistical returns by education authorities to the Scottish Office on the results of biennial elections in 1991–92 and 1993–94. Information on numbers of schools with school boards following the 1995–96 round of biennial elections is currently being processed for publication.
