To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is his most recent estimate of the number of deaths that are likely to occur over the next 20 years as a result of CJD. [6832]

The annual incidence of deaths from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the United Kingdom continues to be in line with the worldwide average of about one case per million of the population.
