HC Deb 02 December 1996 vol 286 c528W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when the Defence aviation repair agency implementation team was established; on what dates it visited RAF St. Albans, RAF Sealand and their RN equivalents; and if he will make a statement. [7150]

Mr. Arbuthnot

The defence aviation repair agency implementation team was formed on 22 July 1996. Members of the team have visited the following establishments on the following dates:

  • RAF St. Athan from 5 to 6 September and on 2 October;
  • RAF Sealand on 20 August and 10 to 11 September;
  • RNAY Fleetlands from 19 to 20 September;
  • RNAW Almondbank on 22 August and 26 September

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what representations he has received from aviation repair companies and consortiums in respect of the competing for quality programme on deep repair aviation maintenance submissions; what further representations he has received from private sub-contractors to the competing for quality bidding MOD units on the same subject; and if he will make a statement. [7189]

Mr. Arbuthnot

CFQ programmes for deep aviation repair are in hand at RAF Sealand and RAF St. Athan. For RAF Sealand, two bids have been received in addition to an in-house bid. These are currently being evaluated.

For the work put out to tender at RAF St. Athan, a number of consortiums are expected to respond shortly to an invitation to tender, again alongside an in-house bid.
