HC Deb 29 April 1996 vol 276 cc340-1W
Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many representations he received in each of the last four years complaining about the procedure for selecting for and excusing from jury service. [26451]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

The question concerns a specific operational matter on which the chief executive of the Court Service is best placed to provide an answer and I have accordingly asked the chief executive to reply direct.

Letter from M. D. Huebner to Mr. David Nicholson, dated 29 April 1996: The Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department has asked me to reply to your Question on the number of complaints that have been received about the procedure for jury selection and excusal. The Court Service does not collate information about this specific area of complaint centrally and to obtain a precise figure would incur a disproportionate cost.
