§ Mr. HanleyWe frequently raise and discuss the subject of human rights in Iran with our European Union partners. The EU co-sponsors resolutions critical of Iran at the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and the United Nations General Assembly. The most recent resolution was adopted by the UNCHR on 24 April 1996. The EU also raises specific cases of human rights abuses with the Iranian authorities. We will continue to work closely with our EU partners on this issue.
